Needs and criteria
The employer needed a toy that could be manufactured at low costs with simple manufacturing techniques.
The product could not be harmful in any way, so no sharp and pointy edges were required.
The shape must be friendly to match the market needs.
Overall, the product must match anybody’s likings so the parent would buy it for their offspring.
Each part of Mr. Egg must have been able to be made with two-part plastic injection molds. It was a challenge since the eyes and mouth were supposed to fit in the egg-shaped body (since it’s an egg, of course).
It was required for every part to have 1-2 degrees of draft angle to come out of molds easily. The challenge was making a tight mechanism for each piece, considering the draft angles.
