medical device design oxygen concentrator
Our design for oxygen concentrator is capable of turning humidification on or off whenever the user wants to.
Since the concentrator can get very annoying working all day, we made the pump so quiet you won’t even notice it working.
Aesthetics means so much to us, so we pay as much attention as possible to it.
Injection molding techniques make most body parts. The lowest price to quality ratio there is.
It also has a competent molding process.
One of the significant challenges was to keep the aesthetics. At the same time, every detail has to be exact and capable of fitting all the parts. The water container had a high tendency to shake while the device is on, so we had to fix it in the place. The design should display a touch of the home appliance rather than hospital equipment.
Also, any complexity in the usage process and the interface of the device should’ve been avoided.
The user had to be able move the device easily. And To create integrity between Appearance and function, it was necessary to change the humidifier water container to a more convenient form.
We modeled the device with CAD software and analyzed factors such as its stability, estimated weight because of its easier portability, and identifying its possible problems.
We tried to fit all the confusing parts of the device for the user in the interior, and the attempt was quite successful.
We were thinking of user centered design, and a way for designing a product with the goal of presenting a Ventilator for home usage.
When studying the previous models we saw that the device was not portable enough and also it was not suitable for many settings, like in the living room, TV room or on the couch. also the device was either reachable for a standing caretaker or the patient that is laying down so in our design both positions was put into consideration.
. Lifting Position
The design’s height and angle of the control panel are in a way that makes it as reachable as possible for both the patient and the caretaker.
. Sitting Position
. Laying Position (Bed)
One of the usual positions that the oxygen concentrator is placed in is beside the patient when he is laying down.
. Walking Position
You can easily carry it with you.
. Standing Position
Suitable for working in a standing position.
. Features
1- Top panel
2- Body
3- Chassis
4- Nonslip Legs to hold the product in place
5- Upper hand grip (to carry the product)
6- Bottom hand grip (to lift the product)
7- Adjustable sliding handles
8- Intake air filter (easy to replace)
9- Wheels for mobility
10- Hot air exhaust
_ Device Controller
Using a touch screen was the solution to combine the input and output of the device conveniently. Furthermore, constant growth in the smartphone market had made most users use a touchscreen display with ease rather than any other input method.
1- Power button
2- Touchscreen display
3-O2 level adjusting nub
4-Brand logo
5-LED indicator
6-O2 level indicator
7-O2 output and water container cap
8-Water container
_ Best Material Choice There Is
Despite older models, which had chassis made of metal sheets, our design is entirely made of plastics to be as lightweight as possible.
Foam sheets insolate all the product’s internals, while the pump is mounted by springs to gain less vibration, and silencers are applied to the air vents for more comfort when in use.
The chassis is lightweight and robust and made to be simple enough for a more straightforward manufacturing process.
_ Suitable for Every Kind of Use
Our product is suitable for working in standing positions with ease, no need to bend or bother your back in any way. It’s also the minimum size to fit in the engine and silencer. It was made with the lowest number of parts possible that can be easily assembled. The exact dimensions of everything inside are measured and fit into their place right away.
